LLMs are the junk food of the internet : everyone’s consuming them, whether it’s nutritious or not.
So here’s a spicy thought:
Should we keep screaming “Ban the bots, block the crawlers, burn the models”?
Or should we “as engineers” do what we do best : build better things. Maybe create content that actually improves what these glorified autocomplete machines learn.
Because let’s face it : LLMs are here to stay. Not because they’re perfect. But because someone threw a billion dollars at them and now they need ROI like oxygen.
Policy folks can debate whether we should have LLMs.
As an engineer, I’m asking : if they’re unavoidable, do we make the flood smarter, or keep yelling at the dam?
Thoughts? Resist, block, or reluctantly refine?
